Widespread Technologies + Informational Interface = Enhanced Vulci Experience
One idea for the Archaeological Park of Vulci is to create a mobile application that would provide park visitors a more enriching experience while walking the park. The application's features might include:
- Guided tours: the app could be used to guide visitors throughout the park. The visitors could choose between a longer path or a shorter path. Also, visitors could choose to use GPS for the app to guide them through the park, or the app could offer directions to guide them between points of interest.
- Audio information: as the visitors follow the guided tour and walk between points of interest, the app could use audio to share some of the history of Vulci and how Vulci fits into a broader context within Etruria. Also, the audio could share information about the natural aspects of the park.
- Reconstruction visuals: once visitors have arrived at a point of interest, they can observe the Roman ruins. The app could be used to offer visualizations about what the point of interest might have looked during the Roman era as well as the Etruscan era. This would be very helpful for visitors because the reconstructions would allow them to see what is invisible.
- Scavenger hunt: the app could have a scavenger hunt component to entertain younger visitors. The scavenger hunt could have photos of some of the lizards, insects, horses, and monuments present in the park of Vulci. This would be a way to encourage younger visitors and families to fully explore the park.
